The Historic Goodrich Hotel was built in 1908 by Lafayette W Goodrich, pictured with his family in front of the Hotel shortly after it opened for business. It was one of the "new brick" buildings featuring the Star Restaurant on the ground floor. In 1908 Vale was a bustling, thriving , trading town with a flourish of new buildings going up. Many a cowboy, rancher and even moonshiners came into town on a Saturday night, looking for a little excitement, and stayed at the Goodrich Hotel.
