We purchased a run down Victorian home in September of 2006. This photo was taken when we first bought the house before any renovations were done. The house was built in the late 1890's. We put on a new roof, built a garage, put in a new driveway and concrete pad in front, built a new wrap around porch, added new siding, put new walls in two of the upstairs bedrooms, added a second large bathroom on the second floor, redecorated a third bedroom, and improved the 4th. We put in a modern efficient kitchen to better accommodate our diverse menu offerings. We opened for business in November 2006 but didn't get our first guest until December of 2006.
Descendants of one of the earlier owners stumbled across us on the internet and wanted to come by for cinnamon rolls and coffee while they were all in town for a high school graduation. We were happy to have them. There were lots of memories shared and a few tears shed, but all in all, they thought that their mother, who loved this house, would be smiling down from heaven at how nice the home looks now.
Later they enjoyed a bridal shower here for one of the granddaughters and even later, a daughter and granddaughter stayed here while in town for a wedding. We've since had several guests stay who were friends of that family in childhood and were in this house many times while growing up.
