Whether you are an OBR veteran, an occasional guest or a first time visitor, from the bottom of my heart, I thank you. Since the moment the OBR Hotel officially opened its doors late in the summer of 2009, I have been blessed by the endless support, kindness and encouragement I have received from each one of you. Thank you for helping me to create a gathering place that is warm, welcoming and special.

It might be getting cold outside, but it sure is heating up inside. Not to be swayed by the onset of winter, the newest menu is HOT, HOT, HOT! With island flair and a nod to French Caribbean cuisine, we hope to keep you feeling like you are on a seaside vacation as the cold wind blows on Haycock Mountain.

Through the summer we all thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor bar. I've been challenged to find a way to keep the party going this winter. As we speak, we are brewing a plan for a new bar to be added in the dining room area. It is expected to seat 8 more guests at the bar. Through the next several months we'll be working on continuing to make progress on "The Schoolhouse" - the OBR's outdoor pavillion - which we hope will be open early next spring. Thanks to all my OBR friends who are working ridiculously hard to make sure that we keep making progress on each of these projects.

The holidays are coming fast. I can't believe that 2010 is rushing by us so quickly. If you are planning a holiday party or simply need a place to gather with friends and relatives, I hope that you will consider the OBR Hotel as your spot to celebrate. We will work with you to plan your get-together, create your menu AND we can keep you all out of trouble on the roads by turning your event into a SLUMBER PARTY at the OBR Hotel. We want to help you make this holiday unforgettable.

Finally, a deep, heartfelt “THANK YOU” goes out to Fess Jones and FWJ Construction. If you've been here for more than five minutes, I am sure that you have met him. White hair, gleaming blue eyes and an easy laugh, Fess seems to make the impossible happen. This self proclaimed “Rough Carpenter” has transformed the OBR Hotel. His additions - the outdoor bar, the open air banquet table, and the “School House” pavilion – have redefined how we relax with food, drink and friends. Thanks Fess, you are a remarkable man!

Laissez le bon temps rouler (let the good times roll),
