The Museum of Yachting

Newport, Rhode Island

For more than 25 years, the Museum of Yachting (MoY) has worked to preserve the culture and heritage of yachting. Situated on one of the most beautiful seaside locations in New England, today the Museum celebrates the traditions of yachting through the presentation of informative exhibits and educational programming.

The Museum is undergoing a renaissance with a renewed focus on its mission to inspire and educate our constituents. In 2007, the Museum converged with the International Yacht Restoration School (IYRS). Together, these two Newport organizations are creating a rich educational living heritage experience by coordinating exhibits, events, and restoration projects.
The 2009 summer season at the Museum will feature three exhibits: "Imagination in Scale: The Practical Art of Ship and Yacht Models", "Coronet: The Long Life and Revival of an Historic American Schooner Yacht" and "The America's Cup – The Newport Years". You can also take a boatbuilding class at the Museum. And with the 30th anniversary of the Classic Yacht Regatta, an in-town presence for MoY on the IYRS campus and a water taxi between downtown Newport, IYRS and the Museum, it will be an exciting time to come visit.
