The Milton House Bed & Breakfast Inn, Stanley, Virginia

The Milton House Inn Bed and Breakfast derives its name from the Sears Catalogue floor plan. The kit was purchased and built in 1913. It is believed that the Milton House Inn Bed and Breakfast is the only Milton still in existence today.
The Tipton's purchased the home and began the successful B&B. They operated it for over 20 years. During their keep, the Tipton's offered dinner in their restaurant this was located where the innkeepers now have their private space. There were four suites upstairs and the Tipton's changed one of the bedrooms into a bath and added two more baths by enclosing the upstairs porch. The cabin and the property behind the B&B were purchased and added to the Inn.
The Rowzie's became the second innkeepers of Milton House. Many changes were made. The restaurant became their private living quarters, the private room for the Tipton's became a gift shop and the formal living room served English Teas and breakfasts, buffet style. The B&B would now cater to adults only.
Three years later, in 2006, John and Anita Carria purchased the home. For several months the B&B was closed for major repairs and beginning restorations. Many upgrades were made at that time for the safety and comfort of the guests of the Inn. The B&B still caters to adults offering solitude, peace and a romantic atmosphere for any getaway. The Tea room is now once again a formal living room and the gift shop, a tea room. Guests enjoy full course breakfasts served in the formal dining room. John and Anita are both licensed Marriage Officiates; the Milton House offers elopement and wedding packages. Packages for all occasions are offered by the Inn and many can be tailored to suit the needs of the guests. John and Anita continue to make long needed repairs and more restorations in small steps.
