National Archives - Declaration of Independence

No visit to Washington D.C. would be complete without seeing the history of this nation. A quintessential piece of American history can be found at the National Archives, home to the Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights, and the Constitution. That's not all the National Archives has to offer. The William G. McGowan Theater runs a continuous film about the National Archives and a twice daily film about the Charters of Freedom. However, by night the theater becomes a landmark for documentary films and forums for exploring issues of American history and related topics. There are also several other exhibits including an exhibit that gives visitors the feeling of going behind the scenes into the stacks and vaults of the National Archives. Admission is free and there is a nearby subway station so whether by car or by foot any visitor can make it.
