This Victorian home has been an important part of Minden for nearly a century and a half. Built from stacked timber, the main house was home to Michael Brown, the town's treasurer, postmaster and justice of the peace, for 45 years. It has served the needs of tourists since 1935 when owners Dick and Laura Kirkwood added the adjacent cabins, then known as "Laurdic Tourist Accommodation". It was renamed "Minden House" in 1981 by well known watercolour artist and owner at the time, Marion Hill.
