A long winding lane invites you to Lauretum (1881), sitting splendidly atop a tree graced knoll on six acres in Chestertown, MD. The complex form and massing of the house reflect the eclecticism of the late Victorian period.

In 1877 the original owner, Harrison W. Vickers, commissioned the internationally renowned architect, Edmund George Lind to design his country estate which he named "Lauretum Place". The name Lauretum or "Laurel Grove", is the name of a place on the Aventine Hill in Ancient Rome. Now operated as a Bed & Breakfast, it provides a unique setting for your visit to the Eastern Shore.
