Fernbrook InnCenterville, MassachusettsThe Fernbrook Inn was built in 1881 as a private summer estate. It is one of the finest examples of Queen Anne shingle style on Cape Cod. Frederick Law Olmstead, better known as the "Father of American Landscape", planned all the landscaping for this elegant country estate. Olmstead was renowned for his design of Central Park in Manhattan. Today, guests of Fernbrook Inn can view his exotic plantings and stroll through his sunken rose gardens. Famous owners of Fernbrook included Herbert Kalmus, the inventor of Technicolor and Cardinal Francis Spellman of New York City. Two American Presidents and notable Hollywood luminaries such as Walt Disney and Gloria Swanson chose Fernbrook for their summer destination. We are located in the heart of the charming village of Centerville which was founded in the 17th century. A short stroll on Main Street and you can visit the 1856 General Store, our Historic Museum, or indulge with a ice cream from the famous Four Seas Ice Cream Parlor. One of Cape Cod's finest beaches, Craigville Beach, is a half mile from our doorstep. Hyannis Harbor is less than 4 miles away and is the home of the Ferry service to both Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard. Downtown Hyannis offers many fine restaurants and a wide variety of shopping as well.
