This was our first Bed and Breakfast as I was leery about staying in some dusty old woman's historic house, but this place was great! It was clean, large, and accommodating. The food was excellent, the room's were cleaner than most hotel rooms that I've stayed in, and the atmosphere was fun and relaxing. I would recommend any newlywed couples or B & B first-timers to stay here. They have flat screen TV's and DVD players in every room, and a large DVD collection, it is quiet and a very short walk to all the shops and restaurants on Main st. We didn't have to drive anywhere all week. If you want to relax and get away for a while this is the place to do it, and do it affordably.

Staying in the cottage was a wonderful delight. A private get away, wonderful fireplace, and private jacuczzi tub for two. An amazing breakfast every morning with fresh fruit and yogurt, fresh coffee or tea, and a delightful new dish every morning. In the evening wine and cheese always hit the spot with wonderful conversation with all the other guests and the owners also. They always made us feel at home and everything was just perfect. We cannot wait to stay again and I don't think we'll stay at any other B&B in Galena, Kathie and Jess are just wonderful people and the experience is hard to beat!

We LOVED the Farmers Guest House in Galena, IL!! Jess and Kathie are so warm and friendly. We enjoyed the extra accomodations they provided like the free wine and cheese in the evening, cookie jars, unlimited water and soda, and the special picture of us to commemorate our visit. If you you stay, and you must, we recommend Pete and Eleanor's Suite! It had a hot tube, fireplace, two flat screen TVs and DVD players, and your own personal entrance. We enjoyed other features too like the skylights and spacious rooms! The guest house is in within walking distance of down town and has beautiful grounds. If you are going to stay in Galena, you must stay at the Farmers Guest House!

#1 B&B Farmers' Guest House, Galena, Illinois Traveled from New York "Jess & Kathy" Make you feel like family"
Galena's only 19th Century Restored Inn and it was a wonderful time to spend our 30th anniversary in luxury. We heard so much about this grand B&B Inn for the years and we knew we wanted to spend our thirty wedding anniversary here at the Farmers' Guest House and we traveled from New York. We choose to stay in the Pete & Eleanor's Suite it was so charming and beautiful and perfect honeymoon/30th anniversary suite. We enjoyed having the private entrance, private living room, bath, and bedroom with private Jacuzzi. There is a beautiful all American room called the Janet's Library which we truly enjoyed. There is the Littlest Gift shop that you can't stop by things. Jess & Kathy plus Charles made us feel like we were with family. The delicious breakfast was so Ambrosia "fit for a king and queen". The 6-7pm. wine & cheese time was special gathering with other guest before walking to the delightful historic town of Galena for so many delicious restaurants to choose from plus shops to enjoy. The warmth and friendly atmosphere was wonderful. We can not say enough wonderful things about Farmers Guest House in Galena and we traveled over 1000 miles from New York for our 30th anniversary and we will do it again next year. If you need a get away to a special place to fill wonderful memories than it is Farmers Guest House in Galena, Illinois. Thank you again Jess & Kathy for all the love and hospitality.
