This 1830 Federal style house was built by Essex shipwrights with the same pride and craftsmanship used to built the famous "Essex built" schooners. It retains many of its fine architectural features including folding Indian shutters, working fireplaces, original panelling and wood carvings. Three porches and a balcony give access to the outside and a splendid view of the salt marsh and the Essex River beyond.
