Birch Hill Inne is one of the few early remaining landmarks in the Crosslake area. This historic home dates back to 1924. The original function of a carriage house was for summer guests, carriages and horses. The property was originally owned by W.A. and Lillian Eberman of Cross Lake Land Co. The Eberman's purchased the parcel of land between Ox Lake and Loon Lake from the Cross Lake Land Company for “summer resort purposes.” They then went on to build Oscawana Resort in 1926.
