Lima House like many of the grade 2 listed buildings in Aberaeron was built around 1850. Many of the houses in the town are named after ships that were built there and Lima House is no exception, although "The Lima" which was a brig, was actualy built in Aberystwyth. It was captained by master mariner John Jones, from Llansantffraid near Llanon, four miles up the coast from Aberaeron. John Jones, in the old tradition, went down with The Lima in Carlingford Lough,off Warrenpoint near Newry in Ireland in 1866.
